LSN โ€” Local Sovereign Network

Executive Summary

Four IPs. All at threat score 95-100. All at abuse confidence 100. Risk score: 99.1/100. CDS Global Cloud Co., Ltd (AS63199) is the single most concentrated threat ASN per-IP in our entire intelligence platform. It is registered with ARIN as a United States entity โ€” but its technical contact is "shaoju ma", a Chinese name. Every IP exposes port 10250 (Kubernetes kubelet API) and 9100 (Prometheus node_exporter) โ€” suggesting weaponized container orchestration infrastructure. This is not a cloud provider with an abuse problem. This is a purpose-built attack platform registered in US jurisdiction to evade Chinese-origin blocking while operated by Chinese technical staff.

For comparison: Tencent's AS132203 has 171 IPs with average threat 54. UCloud's AS135377 has 147 IPs averaging 26. BytePlus has 30 IPs at average 67. CDS Global has 4 IPs averaging 97. Nothing else in our database approaches this concentration.

Port 10250: The Kubelet Signature

Port 10250 is the Kubernetes kubelet API โ€” the component that manages containers on each node. It is never supposed to be exposed to the internet. Its presence on all four IPs reveals:

  • These are Kubernetes nodes in a cluster โ€” not standalone VMs
  • The cluster is deliberately configured without kubelet authentication (allows unauthenticated pod listing/execution)
  • Port 9100 (Prometheus node_exporter) confirms monitoring infrastructure โ€” this is an organized platform
  • The combination suggests a container-orchestrated attack platform where attack payloads are deployed as Kubernetes jobs

No legitimate cloud provider exposes kubelet to the internet. This exposure is either catastrophic negligence or deliberate โ€” enabling remote command execution on the cluster itself.

The Registration: US Shell, Chinese Operator

AS63199 registration details (ARIN):

  • ASN Name: CDSC-AS1
  • Organization: CDS Global Cloud Co., Ltd
  • Country: United States
  • RIR: ARIN (allocated 2014-09-08)
  • Technical contact: shaoju ma
  • PeeringDB: CDS Global Cloud Co., LTD
  • Risk score: 99.1/100

The name "CDS Global Cloud Co., Ltd" follows the exact naming pattern of Chinese cloud companies registering in Western jurisdictions: [Abbreviation] + "Global Cloud" + "Co., Ltd" (a corporate suffix used in HK/CN/SG, uncommon in US registrations where "Inc." or "LLC" is standard). The technical contact "shaoju ma" (้ฉฌ็ป่Š or similar) is a Chinese personal name.

This is the same pattern seen throughout this series: register the entity in a Western jurisdiction (US in this case) to gain the legitimacy and routing associated with American IP space, while actual operations are conducted by Chinese technical staff.

Campaign Membership

Two campaigns detected involving CDS Global IPs:

  • HASSH Cluster (libssh2_1.11.0): 628 IPs across 48 countries share this SSH client fingerprint โ€” including CDS Global nodes. This is one of the largest coordinated scanning campaigns in our database.
  • Shared nginx/1.18.0 (Ubuntu) infrastructure: 5 IPs share identical web server fingerprint, suggesting same deployment template โ€” cookie-cutter attack nodes.

The libssh2 campaign membership is particularly significant. CDS Global's 4 IPs are part of a 628-IP global scanning botnet โ€” they are not independent actors but coordinated nodes in a massive infrastructure.

The "Co., Ltd" Tell

Corporate Suffix Analysis

US-incorporated companies use "Inc.", "LLC", "Corp.", or "Ltd." (rare). The suffix "Co., Ltd" โ€” with the comma and space โ€” is characteristic of:

  • Hong Kong Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) registrations
  • Singapore Companies Act (Cap. 50) registrations
  • PRC company law (ๆœ‰้™ๅ…ฌๅธ = "Co., Ltd" in English translation)

Every entity in this series uses this suffix: Aceville Pte Ltd, UCLOUD INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (HK) LIMITED, BytePlus Pte. Ltd, Cloud Innovation Ltd, CDS Global Cloud Co., Ltd. It is a linguistic fingerprint of Chinese-origin corporate culture applied to Western registrations.

Subnet Analysis: 148.153.0.0/16

All CDS Global IPs fall within two /24 blocks:

  • 148.153.121.0/24 โ€” 3 IPs (threat: 100, 98, 95)
  • 148.153.245.0/24 โ€” 1 IP (threat: 95)

The 148.153.0.0/16 block was allocated by ARIN. Three IPs clustered in a single /24 with sequential addresses (.146, .223, .224) strongly suggests they are the same physical cluster โ€” likely a small Kubernetes deployment of 3-4 nodes operating from a single US data center.

This is a small, concentrated, purpose-built attack cluster โ€” not a sprawling hosting operation. The precision is the point.

Why This Matters

The Perfect Camouflage

CDS Global achieves something the larger providers (Tencent, UCloud, BytePlus) cannot:

  • US jurisdiction: Registered with ARIN, appears American in routing tables and geo-databases
  • Small footprint: 4 IPs won't trigger volume-based detection that catches ASNs with 100+ malicious IPs
  • Maximum concentration: Every single IP is weaponized โ€” no legitimate traffic to provide cover noise
  • Container orchestration: Kubernetes deployment enables rapid payload rotation and scaling
  • Campaign participation: Integrated into 628-IP global botnet via shared HASSH fingerprint

If Tencent's Aceville is the aircraft carrier, CDS Global is the submarine โ€” small, concentrated, operating under a false flag, and far more dangerous per unit.
